here are a few images from jen and eric's wedding at the fun smog shoppe in culver city, ca.    my favorite part of the day was that it rained! i mean it rained and rained.  i heard jen tell her dad "no we are getting married outside- there is no back up plan".  i loved it!  so she went outside, her sister held the umbrella over her head, the bottom of her dress was soaked, and she was full of smiles.  can i ask for better brides, seriously??   jen and eric were so fun and threw the best party i have been to yet.   flashdance was the dj and as always, was so much fun.
jen is such a fun blogger.  she was a real bride blogger for wedding chicks and she has her own blog a brides brain.  check out her blog for great inspiration and to see the rest of her wedding.

0006054-r01-024.jpg

jen and eric got ready at a really fun hotel in venice beach.  i love when brides choose fun hotels to get ready in.  first, their photos turn out much better and the bridal party loves it!  it is so fun to have everyone in the hotel together and i just feel part of the party.

all black and whites were shot with my canon 35mm camera using fuji 1600 pro film.
again flash dance was the dj and old movies played on the screen behind the dancing floor.  movies like charlie chaplin and casablanca.  such a fun idea!

welcome to part two of the fun shoot i worked up with amorology weddings.    we had so much fun and i still have so much to share.

inspiration:  this is a vintage inspired shoot.  using an old bridal magazine, vintage attire, record player, and even a couple vintage chairs.  but we wanted a vintage inspired shoot with an element of beauty and elegance.

0006038-r01-007.jpg0006047-R01-012.jpg0006047-R01-016.jpg

theme: we wanted to create a nostalgic feeling, that was reminiscnent of each couple's wedding day.  we also wanted to honor traditions and to remember the moments that begun their lives together.  we imagined our couples beginning a new tradition on their first anniversary and gathering friends together to celebrate.

the couples each re-created photos that reminded them of their actual wedding day:

couple one: remeber their rainy seattle wedding
os9.jpg

couple two: remembering their destination wedding

os10.jpg

couple three: remembering their ranch style wedding

os11.jpg

using the record player, each couple danced to the first song they danced to on their wedding day.

welcome to a fun a 'first annivesary party' that i had the pleasure of doing with amorology weddings.  this was such a fun project to work on and many people were involved and i am just so excited to share it with you.   you can also see style me pretty, for their feature.

the setting:
a first anniversary dinner party in orange groves in north county san diego, ca
os24.jpg

the attire:
each couple is wearing thier origional wedding attire to remember their wedding day.  we wanted the attire to be done in a more fun casual way.  what would you do it you could retake your photos after one year?
(the actual attire is mostly second hand.  vintage suits on the men and gowns are vintage and/or second hand.   some attire is anthropologie as well.)

os22.jpgos21.jpg
os18.jpgos20.jpg0006042-r01-010.jpg
os3.jpg

the table:
we wanted it to be as if each couple brought their own elements from their wedding.  so there are lots of colors, different chairs, even different plates.  we imagined them sharing their own personal touches at the dining table and creating a tapestry of textures, mix and match china patterns, hand-stitched napkins and dining chairs from each of the couples trusso as we set a charmingly elegant table.  gold and crystal candelbras add to the warm glow of candlelight alongside the vintage lace wrapped votives.  soft peonies, kale, rununculous, lizzy, and garden roses filled a rusty bucket and sat among 3 cake toppers from each of the couples weddings - to be eaten on the first anniversary as the couples shared highlights from their first year of marriage.   little paper flages that read "happily ever after" were placed in oranges upon each plate as a nod to both the present and future of their relationships.
vintage hankerchiefs hung from twine and wood clothespins across the orange trees, creating a lovely sheer backdrop.
{this is from amorology weddings.  it was such a pleasure working with them.  i was amazed how they took our vision and made it come to life.  if you are looking for a wedding coordinator, please go to their site.)

os4.jpgos6.jpg0006046-r01-024.jpgos7.jpgos32.jpgos31.jpgos15.jpgos16.jpg0006046-r01-009.jpg09680001.jpg

the amazing hair and make-up was done by my sister kami christensen.  she is seriously incredible at what she does and i have never seen anything more lovely.  the hairpieces are from one of my most favorite etsy stores feather and frills.

os8.jpgos2.jpgos30.jpgog5.jpg

the wonderful peppermint cloud donated some boutonnieres.  they are amazing and actually custom made oranges just for our shoot.  i adore their store, please check it out.  also see our contest- as we will be giving some of these boutonnieres away.
also from esty- me and metilda gave us the awesome orange bow tie.  i am just loving bow ties these days and they have a store full of them!
the flowers were all done by twigg bontanicals.  she did such a lovely job!

i also wanted to put a plug in for my cute brother.  the couple below is yes, my little brother and his cute wife.  they did actually get married one year ago and will be celebrating their one year anniversary next week.  they were so sweet to come out from arizona to model for us.  ben is a photographer in arizona and is really doing some awesome work.  check out his photography blog
